Loose Rings

The loose rings snaffles make a more mobile bit than an eggbutt or fixed cheek bit, which should encourage your horse to keep a relaxed jaw and mouth the bit. The loose ring may be useful if your horse leans on the bit, or takes hold, as the bit is always movable so the horse cannot take hold as easily as they could with a fixed cheek. This bit is also useful for gaining contact as the movable mouthpiece enables the bit to fit the mouth, contour the tongues natural position and sit comfortably.

Peanut Joint

The peanut joint bits have proven one of the of the most popular of mouths. It has a oval shaped link in the center, made from the happy mouth material which is movable an rolls around the stainless steel centre.

It has 2 joints, which means the pressure of the bit is distributed over both the tongue and bars of the mouth. Because the mouthpiece has two joints, it shouldn't cause any interference with the roof of the mouth. The peanut uses tongue pressure to encourage the horse to go on the bit and lower the head, it has bar and lip pressure but not a squeezing action like that of a bit with a single joint. The more joints a bit has the less likely the horse is to lean as the bit becomes more mobile. The peanut also encourages mouthing and acceptance as the horse can play with the peanut and be kept content.
